Like many of us, I’ve noticed the shift over the past year – fewer impressions, less interaction, and a newsfeed that feels increasingly crowded. But now, with the release of the latest algorithm report, we have more clarity. And with that comes the chance to adapt.
Let’s break down what’s changed and what you can do about it.
Reach has dropped 50%, engagement is down 75%, and follower growth is down 60%. If you’ve been posting consistently and seeing fewer results, it’s not your imagination.
Company pages are struggling more than ever – and unless you’re a large organisation with a strong paid strategy, you’re better off focusing on personal posts. One effective workaround? Re-share your personal content to your company page to keep it active.
Video is now essential. Native, 1–2 minute videos in portrait mode are getting up to 22% more engagement than text-based posts. To stand out, make sure your videos include captions and – crucially – a thumbnail that communicates your hook visually. Many users never even read your post copy, especially on mobile.
Speaking of mobile: 72% of LinkedIn activity now happens via the app. That means faster scrolling, shorter attention spans, and a strong case for concise, visually engaging content. Micro content – under 300 characters – is on the rise. It’s not easy, but it’s worth experimenting with.
The data also tells us that carousels (document posts) still perform well, especially if you keep them under 9 slides and use a short, punchy intro. Polls remain popular too – but keep them to three response options and a seven-day duration for best effect.
And here’s a counterintuitive insight: posts now perform better when published during peak hours, not quiet times. The busier the feed, the more signals LinkedIn has to determine your post’s value – so make sure you’re posting when your audience is online.
As always, strategy beats hacks. Know your audience, watch your metrics, and test formats that match how your followers consume content.
Don’t chase the algorithm. Adapt to it. And keep showing up.
